Great Areas - Great Places

  • The District

The must-see cultural epicenter of Columbia featuring eclectic shops, restaurants, museums, galleries, theatres and a “bohemian” or two.

Bordered on three sides by college campuses, the District is a continually evolving and vibrant hot spot for live performances, one-of-a-kind specialty shops and owner-operated retail stores. It’s the place to go for exciting nightlife or to meet friends for dinner. Discover The District today.

    Discover Columbia

(“The District” boundaries are roughly the downtown borders: Providence, Ash, Elm and College.)
  • Tri-Campus

Walk the hallowed halls and manicured grounds of MU, Stephens, and Columbia College and you’re bound to be enlightened.
  • Savvy South

Mix a little old money with a little new and you’ve got everything from country clubs to trendy bars to lakeside dining.

Be on the look-out for plenty of independently owned shops, homemade pies, Spanish tapas and hot wings. The MKT trail and twin lakes also offer some pleasant scenery.

(“Savvy South” boundaries are roughly: Stadium, Rock Quarry to Nifong/Grindstone Parkway to South Hampton, to Forum back to Stadium.)
  • West Side

Scores of restaurant chains and shopping centers, including the Columbia Mall, will keep your “plastic” occupied. Historic homes, shopping centers and fine dining abound on the west side.

A little further west will take you into residential areas and towards farms, forests and rolling hills. Way west is Rocheport and the famous Les Bourgeois Vineyards.

(?West Side? boundaries are roughly everything between Chapel Hill and I-70, Providence to Scott Boulevard.)
  • East Side

Live large, shop large. Eat well. The east side’s “mega” centers and restaurants will help you do all three.

(“East Side” Boundaries are roughly everything between Old 63, New Haven, Keene and I-70.)
  • North

Enough forests, parks, fairgrounds, and lakes to satisfy the nature lover in all of us. Up North you’ll find Cosmos Park, Oakland Park, Bear Creek Trail, and Finger Lakes. You’ll also find the new Bass Pro Shop up north in the near future.

(“North” Boundaries are roughly everything North of I-70 and up 763 and 63.)
