Historic Costume Gallery


The Historic Costume Gallery showcases a working collection of garments from the Stephens College Costume Museum and Research Library.


The Costume Museum & Research Library (est. 1958) has grown by donations from alumnae, friends and designers to more than 13,000 pieces, including representations of ethnic wear, everyday clothes of women, men and children, and an impressive list of designer garments.

It boasts Missouri’s most extensive holding of historical garments. The collection is comprised of nearly 13,000 items both on exhibition and in protective storage. The gallery is a frequent home for lectures, events and research. Special tours are available.

Exhibit Hours:
12 to 1 p.m. Wednesdays 
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays
12 to 3 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays
Closed during Stephens College holidays.
